Destiny of Rooms

Destiny of Rooms is a project which aims to give a room some control over what is going on inside it. By monitoring the number of people in the room (through floor mats on either side of the doors), noise level (through ceiling-mounted microphones), and whether the doors were open or closed (through switches), a server would observe and respond, attempting to keep those numbers at an average.

It would generate automated email responses to a mailing list which all people with access to the room were on, in the voice of the room itself. This was a direct response to how some individuals attempted to change the nature of the room themselves - by sending email to the list.

A reversal from many of my location-based projects, Destiny of Rooms assumes a location and attempts to alter it for the users, rather than try to bring the users to the location.

Destiny of Rooms was developed with Arduino and Processing.
